Dr.Web Industrial for Linux is designed to protect files of physical and virtual workstations running OSes of the GNU/Linux family from viruses and other types of malware, as well as to prevent distribution of threats for various platforms. When operating in centralized protection mode, Dr.Web Industrial for Linux is controlled by a server managed by Dr.Web Industrial. By default, Dr.Web Industrial for Linux does not interfere with the operating system and only notifies the user of detected threats; this allows to use the anti-virus solution in an industrial infrastructure, in which emergency shutdown of machinery and outage are unacceptable. Main components (scan engine and virus databases) are not only highly effective and resource-sparing, but also cross-platform, which lets Doctor Web experts create reliable anti-virus solutions protecting computers running popular operating systems from threats that target various platforms. Currently, along with Dr.Web Industrial for Linux, Doctor Web offers other anti-virus solutions for Unix-like operating systems (GNU/Linux and FreeBSD), macOS and Windows. Moreover, other anti-virus products have been developed to deliver protection for devices running Android and Aurora OSes. Components of Dr.Web Industrial for Linux are constantly updated, and virus databases are regularly supplemented with new records to ensure up-to-date protection of files of physical and virtual workstations. For additional protection against unknown malware, heuristic analysis methods implemented by the anti-virus engine are used. Before using Dr.Web software, you must make sure there are no conflicts between the anti-virus software and the software and/or firmware of your corporate infrastructure. Install all the latest updates and perform all secure configuration steps outlined in this documentation. If critical corporate infrastructure segments interface with Dr.Web software, it is strongly recommended that all updates to program modules and virus databases be tested in an isolated test environment.
